Subject : Object.tre patch for Excalibur and Hellcat NOT Longbow
(there may be a bug in the german WC3 documentation!)
This file includes former WC3PAT.TXT and adds a patch for Dumbfire Missles !
To all Wing Commanders,
here is a small story about patching your OBJECT.TRE file on your harddisk to
get more and quicker firepower using less energy for Excalibur and Hellcat V.
ATTENTION !!! Everything you do, you do at YOUR OWN RISK !!!!
One day Rachel told me , that it should be easy to modify the gundata in the
OBJECT.TRE file on some of the ships of the TCN Victory. All you need is a
good debugger or hex-editor. She said she has never tried it.It is to risky
for the pilots to fly an instable ship, because of her modifications.
I answered that i would fly the modified ship at my own risk, and so she told
me what to do :
1) Make a BACKUP of your OBJECT.TRE file
2) Load it in your Hex-Editor and search for "Reaper"
3) There you will find the following Hex patterns:
23 00 00 00 08 07 00 00 80 02 00 00 3A 00 00 00 23 00
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
| | | | | | |
| | | | | | Energy consumption
| | | | | Refire rate
| don't know about it (maybe range of guns ???)?
Destruction power
4) Modify the pattern to the following:
F0 00 00 00 08 07 00 00 80 02 00 00 15 00 00 00 04 00
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
| | | | | | |
| | | | | | less is better
| | | | | less is better
| don't modify ....
more is better
The values shown have a good balance for the gun.
5) Save the file to your harddisk
6) Search for "Neutron" Gun to make changes for the Hellcat
7) You will find the following Hex patterns:
34 00 00 00 78 05 00 00 80 01 00 00 66 00 00 00 1E 00
8) You can modify it equal to the Reaper Gun, but don't change the
unknown bytes , if you don't know what they mean.
Here is Rachels advice:
80 00 00 00 78 05 00 00 80 01 00 00 15 00 00 00 04 00
ATTENTION:
don't mess around with the other guns, because the Kilrathi
may have them too !!! It's not funny to meet Kilrathi fighters
with such tuned guns.
Here is an additional patch for the Dumbfire Missles. Two of them kills a
Destroyer if you can get close enough. So you can fly the mission instead
of using the Longbow or Thunderbold VII.
9) Search for "Dumb" to make changes for this type of missle
10) You will find the following Hex patterns:
20 03 00 00 15 0C 0F 01 03 05 07 37 ........
^ ^ ^ ^
| | | |
| | | life in seconds of the missle
| | |
| don't modify ....
destruction power (more is better, don't forget LOWbyte HIGHbyte)
11) You can modify it to the values of a torpedo (or more)
This is Rachels advice:
40 1F 00 00 15 0C 0F 01 03 14 07 37 ........
You can modify the pattern of all other missles too, BUT be careful their
patterns seems to be different. Rachel was not sure, but she thinks the
"life" pattern looks like 01 03 LIFE 07 37. Find them by searching for the
first 3 or 4 letters of the missles name, or search for "MISLDAT" in the
OBJECT.TRE file to find all missles.
NOTE: After flying several missions with modified guns i'm not sure if
the modifications really take an effect to the Kilrathi ships, but
it seems to take an effect to your wingmans ship, because he kills
all fighters in very short time during the "Nebular mission" while
i was waiting for that dammed skipmissle to shot down.
-bye- see ya next mission !
Live long and prosper ! 8-)
If YOU have some usefull modifications ,questions or advices please send me
mail at Compuserve !
